The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission’s June Residential Yard of The Month is at 2320 Oaklawn Drive and belongs to AJ Jensen. AJ, who is a member of the La Marque Garden Club, loves plants, butterflies, insects, and wildlife, and his yard is living proof of this love. Congratulations AJ on your amazing yard, and for keeping La Marque beautiful.

April 2019 Yards of the Month

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission's April Yard of The Month is located at 2219 Cedar Drive. Bob and Sylvia Lynch purchased their home back in 1965, which is where the old Calhoun Dairy used to be. Mrs. Lynch pointed out that the windmill, that is still in her back yard, is a relic of the dairy. Congratulations to the Lynch family for keeping La Marque beautiful!

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is proud to announce that CVS Pharmacy, at 204 Newman Road has been awarded our Business Yard of The Month for April. Manager Tamara Forte said CVS has been at that location now for about three years. When the store was built, it was landscaped beautifully with red Knockout roses, ornamental grasses, and shrubs, and continues to delight patrons, and passersby as well. Congratulations to CVS Pharmacy for keeping La Marque Beautiful, and a job well done.

March 2019 Yards of the Month

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is proud to announce that Edith Roberts, of 2602 Magnolia Drive, has been given our Residential Yard of The Month award for March 2019. Edith's yard is always beautifully maintained and decorated, and was featured in the Galveston County Daily News magazine, Coast Monthly, in January, 2018. Congratulations, Edith, for keeping La Marque beautiful, and for a job well done!

St. Michael's Episcopal Church at 1601 Lake Road is our March Business Yard of The Month. The Rev. Dr. Robert J. Moore is the Priest-in-Charge. St. Michael's has been in La Marque for 70 years. The building has a lovely, quaint look, and when the azaleas are blooming, it's quite beautiful. The azaleas will be in full bloom within a week or so. Thanks to St. Michael's Episcopal Church for keeping La Marque beautiful, and a job well done! (Article and photos by Vivian Allen)

February 2019 Yard of the Month

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission wants to recognize Industrial Commissioning Consultants International (ICCI) at 714 SH 3 in La Marque as our February Business Yard of The Month. I spoke to the Chief Technology Officer, Bill Bogar, about how excited we were to see a new business move into our neighborhood who put such effort into making and old place look new again (the fence is beautiful). Bill told me that they do weekly trash patrol to keep everything spiffy, and he was very interested in being involved in KLMB's city-wide clean-up events. We love businesses and residents who want to be involved in our city beautification projects. Congratulations to ICCI, and all their employees, for keeping La Marque beautiful, and a job well done! January 2019 Yard of the Month

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is proud to announce that the winner of our Business Yard of The Month for January is Metro Self Storage at 2919 FM 1765. Manager Penny Miller has worked diligently to revamp their landscaping by removing plants that were harboring mosquitoes, and adding blooming plants to add some color. She said she caused the demise of the first crop of flowers by over fertilizing, but she replanted, and now leaves the fertilizing to the professionals. Congratulations to Metro Self Storage, and Manager Penny Miller, for keeping La Marque beautiful, and a job well done.

November 2018 Yards of the Month

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is proud to feature Mainland Pawn And Jewelry, located at 106 Highway 3, as our November Business Yard of The Month. Mike and Betty Holcomb have owned and operated Mainland Pawn & Jewelry since 1974, and are still going strong. I'm pretty sure you've notice the beautiful remodel of the store's facade, the pretty water trough planters, the new LED sign, and the charming mural on the north side of the building. You just can't help admiring the excellent job that was done on their store. Congratulations to Mike and Betty Holcomb for keeping La Marque beautiful, and a job well done! Pat is one of those people who loves to decorate for whatever holiday is coming up, and it's joy to drive by her house. Her grandson enjoys her decorating as well, and even lends a hand when needed. The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is proud to announce the La Marque Feed Store as our October Business Yard of The Month. Though Pat and Lou Patterson's feed store doesn't have the large manicured lawns that some businesses boast, it has a lovely hometown atmosphere with the fall seedlings stacked by the front door, and the New Zealand Spinach climbing the walls. The lawn is always mowed, and Pat keeps a garden at the side of the store. Congratulations to Pat and Lou for keeping La Marque Beautiful, and a job well done! The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is proud to feature Texas First Bank, located at 407 South Oak Street, as our September Business Yard of The Month. The lawns and shrubs are nicely trimmed, the sago palms green, and the crepe myrtles blooming. The old fashioned street lamps add a quaint Texas look. This branch opened in La Marque on December 13, 1999, and has been going strong ever since. August 2018 Yards of the Month

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission is proud to announce that Lennar at Delany Cove is the winner of our August 2018 "Business Yard of The Month". Lennar has been building outstanding homes throughout the Houston area for years, winning "Builder of the Year" awards for 2016 and 2018, from the Greater Houston Builders Association. The landscaping that Lennar installed at their Show Home/Office at 430 Havenstone Lane, in the Delany Cove Subdivision, demonstrates wonderfully how a business can make a person stop and take notice by creating a charming and colorful exterior. July 2018 Yards of the Month

The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission's July Residential Yard of The Month is the beautiful yard belonging to Barbara and Pervis Cotton, of 2502 Lazy Lane, La Marque, Texas. Mr. Cotton built his house back in 1977, and has lived there happily ever since. Even though Pervis is almost 80, you will see him outside working in his yard most days. He says it makes him feel good to keep his yard looking good. Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission's July Business Yard of The Month is a place many of you drive by often, sometimes daily, but have you ever taken the time to really look at it? We're talking about the Associated Credit Union of Texas (ACU), located at 920 First Street in La Marque, Texas. Though the front of the building has to accommodate parking, the side and back of the main building, and the drive-through, has some very pretty landscaping. There are beautiful oaks and grassy areas that make you want to bring out the lawn chairs, and pockets of ornamental grasses and flowers to add spice. The Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission has given our residential Yard Of The Month award to Janet and Ronnie De Vasier of 2411 Lazy Lane, La Marque, Texas. Janet and Ronnie are retired folks who enjoy being outdoors creating a beautiful environment for themselves, their friends and family and their neighborhood. You can find them outside working in their gorgeous yard most days, and they'll tell you that's what they love doing. Faust Distributing, located at 3001 Gulf Freeway, La Marque, Texas, has been awarded the May Business Yard Of The Month by the Keep La Marque Beautiful Commission. Faust's General Manager, Craig Colelli, has kept their landscaping looking good after our severe winter by planting more than 200 palm trees, building aluminum metal fencing, and constructing a concrete and stucco entrance, complete with pillars. Mr. Colelli and Faust Distributing care about keeping their business well maintained and handsome for the residents of La Marque. When Brandy Grantland and Dave Edwards moved into their new home in Painted Meadows it didn't look like it does today. The yard didn't do justice to their pretty new home, so they went to work and created a beautiful frame for it. Now, when you drive into their neighborhood, your attention is instantly grabbed by the flow of the gardens, the beauty of the plants, and the whimsy of the decorations.
